(South America) Information about Ecuador
Prot mission work started toward the end of the 19th century the Gospel Missionary Union (1895), the Christian and Missionary Alliance (1896), the Methodist Episcopal Mission (1897), and Advent (1904). For several decades progress was slow. From 1931 the Radio Missionary Fellowship began evangelistic work through La Voz de los Andes, which proved to be effective. In 1945 the first national church was formed the Iglesia Evangelica Ecuatoriana Alianza Cristiana e Misionera. A wide range of Prot missions began work after World War II. Prot also expanded through the growth of the Pent movement and of indigenous churches. In 1964 the Presb, the Church of the Brethren, the Disciples of Christ, and the Methodists decided to form the United Evangelical Church of Ecuador. More recently, Korean missionaries entered the country and founded separate communities. Alliances
