(Africa) Información sobre Morocco
Various Prot mission societies, including the Southern Morocco Mission of Scottish origin, the North Africa Mission, the Gospel Missionary Mission, and the Emmanuel Mission worked in this country since 1875. The Eglise Réformée de France (ERF) started work in Morocco in 1922, mainly to serve people of French origin living in this country. With the arrival of independence from France in 1956 a new situation arose. In recognition of independence and also as an accommodation to the increasing numbers of Germans, Swiss, Scandinavians, and French, the ERF decided in 1958 to establish an autonomous church — the Evangelical Church in Morocco (Eglise évangélique du Maroc, EEM). In accordance with the legal requirements (since 1963 most mission work is prohibited) the EEM foregoes all proselytism. Its purpose is to strengthen the faith of the local and expatriate Prot living in various parts of the country. The Prot Christian community does not exceed 3,000 members worshiping in some 20 places. Iglesias
